Essay #4 (Registration) In my opinion this was my best essay.

Because I am currently on academic warning, my registration for the fall 2015 semester is currently pending. Academic Warning is a type of academic standing. One is placed on academic warning when his/her(s) GPA falls below a 2.0 after one semester. If you don’t pull you cumulative GPA up above a 2.0, one is then placed on Academic Probation. One will be forced to maintain a certain number of credit hours and cannot exceed that limit. During my first semester, (Fall 2014) I did not do so well and I ended up failing my math class. Failing the class put me below a 2.0 for the semester. Now in my second semester I am trying to fight my way off of academic warning. The state of my registration for next semester lies in the hands of this current semester right now.

As of right now I am technically ready for registration. When I register, some of my classes will just be pending based on the results from this semester. In order to prepare for registration, I met with my advisor a couple of times this semester. During the meetings, we sat and talked about all of the possible classes I could enroll in. We also filled out my “DegreeWorks” for next semester, basically just mapping everything out. I also tried to maintain good grades so that I would be able to take all of the classes I need to take to advance in my studies. Most classes require a solid “C” to earn a passing grade. If you don’t meet that requirement, one won’t be awarded the credit for the class.
Another key component of preparing for registration is to make sure that one takes all of his/her pre requisites up to that point. Pre reqs are mandatory regardless of what ones major is. The pre requisites offered at Old Dominion University vary vastly. You can choose from a boatload of sciences, mathematics, philosophies, and even English courses. In my first semester, I decided to take public speaking. This was a pre requisite and I really enjoyed the class.
This upcoming semester (Fall 2015) I plan on taking 5 classes. When I met with my advisor, we filled out my “DegreeWorks” page and mapped out my classes for the upcoming semester. I plan on taking English 110, Econ, Intro to Sports management, Literature, and Astronomy. In order for me to be able to take these classes, I have to take care of business this current semester. As previously stated, when I register for these classes my status will be pending until final grades from this semester are posted.
All and all I think that I am ready for registration. I know what I have to do and I feel like I have put myself in good position to accomplish these tasks. Meeting with my advisor was the biggest thing, and I knocked that out early. I have kept up on all my work semester and I am ready to move forward into the new fall semester.
